How to save money at John Lewis

Andy Webb, Money Expert

Despite some recent struggles, John Lewis is still one of the largest UK retailers outside of the big four supermarkets and Amazon. And people like it too. A Which? survey placed it third of all high street shops with a score of 86%.

It’s a place I tend to visit too, both on the high street and online, when I’m shopping. But I rarely pay full price. Here are a few of the tricks I use to save a little bit of cash or get some extras for free.

Get discounted John Lewis vouchers and gift cards

When I shop at John Lewis I tend to use gift cards. And there are ways to get this for less. The trick is to check if you have access to any perks with memberships or via your work.

If you don’t, then one you can sign up for is via the investment firm Scottish Friendly. If you open up an ISA with them you get access to something called “Friendly Benefits”. This gives you lots of discounts to all sorts of retailers, and at the moment there’s 6% off John Lewis gift cards too.
